About CruiseGalv.com: Your Galveston Cruise Resource

The Quick Version I’m Jerry. I live in San Antonio, Texas. I’ve been cruising since 1991. I drive 3 hours from San Antonio to Galveston, park my car, board Carnival Breeze or Carnival Dream, and cruise the Western Caribbean for 4-7 days.

No flights. No airports. No connections.

Just drive-to cruising from the best cruise port in Texas.

This site is everything I’ve learned about cruising from Galveston—ship reviews, parking strategies, port logistics, budget tips, and honest takes on what works and what doesn’t.

Why Galveston?

I didn’t choose Galveston. Geography did. I live in San Antonio. The closest major cruise ports are: – **Galveston:** 3 hour drive – **New Orleans:** 8 hour drive – **Tampa:** 14 hour drive + hotel – **Miami:** 17 hour drive + hotel – **Fort Lauderdale:** 18 hour drive + hotel **Or I could fly to any of those ports.

Or I could drive 3hours to Galveston and skip the flights entirely.

Easy choice. But Galveston Surprised Me. When I first looked into Galveston cruising, I assumed it would be: – Limited ships – Boring itineraries – Seasonal only **I was wrong.**

Galveston has: – **4 year-round cruise ships** (Carnival Breeze, Dream, Jubilee + Royal Caribbean Liberty) – **Great Western Caribbean itineraries** (Cozumel, Costa Maya, Belize, Mahogany Bay) –

Every weekend departure(4-day, 5-day, 6-day, 7-day cruises) –

Drive-to convenience(massive savings vs. fly-to ports)

Galveston isn’t second-tier. It’s underrated.
